After a long and thorough process, Community Advisors presented to the Carlton School Board on August 13th, their recommendations for a vision and strategies to achieve that vision in the next 3-5 years. The Community Advisors are 15 resident volunteers who had 13 scheduled meetings in the past 6 months, in addition to individually interviewing 36 district residents. School Board members did not attend the meetings to help assure the process was community driven. In addition to the resident interviews, the process included a teacher visioning session, a community wide meeting, an electronic survey and the Advisors' own reflections and perspectives. It was agreed by all that the Advisors with diverse backgrounds and opinions worked well together.
The School Board will be discussing the recommendations, prioritizing and drafting implementaton works plans at a School Board Retreat on Tuesday, August 21st at 6:00pm at the Public House in Carlton. The retreat is open to the public.
