Open Craft Night!

Always wondering when you will have time to work on your scrapbooking? Or when you might get to that next craft project you have been dreaming of accomplishing? We are offering you a way to do just that! We will provide the space, tables and chairs (no need to clean off the dining room table so you have space to work!)
BONUS: Sharing ideas and meeting new people!!!

Tae Kwon Do is a form of martial arts.  As students have fun learning kicks, punches, rolls and self defense they will acquire self control, respect, confidence and self esteem.  Tae Kwon Do can help develop fit bodies and minds that radiate into the rest of a student’s life.  The instructor is a 2nd degree black belt, starting her training 10 years ago with 5 years of being assistant instructor/ instructor.  Shin guards are required for the class and can be purchased from the instructor on the first night.  Testing will be an additional fee, which will vary in cost depending on the level at which the student is testing.  This class is for 6 year olds to adults (Two different classes being offered).  Questions about the class can be directed to the instructor (info below) and questions about registration can be directed to the Community Education office.  Class registration is a month at a time, new students welcomed each month! 
**NEW for 2019-2020-Class will now be two nights a week**
Class fees should be paid prior to the start of each new month and should be paid to Carlton Community Education.  Multiple months can be paid for ahead of time.

Instant Pot 101

The Instant Pot is the hot new kitchen appliance!  Come check out their magic at this very informational and hands-on class!  Perfect for new owners, potential owners and especially for those owners who have one but haven’t braved this new adventure just yet!  During class six different recipes will be created and you will get to try all of them-so come hungry.  The different recipes will allow you to learn how to use different features of the Instant Pot (and other brands of programmable pressure cookers).  Some creations will be Pizza Pasta, Chicken Wings, Beef and Brown Rice Hotdish, plus a few more!  Care of your Instant Pot will also be discussed, to provide safety and longevity of this handy kitchen appliance!  Bring your Instant Pot to class (even if it’s still in the box), if you don’t have one yet-that is okay, you can still attend this class and learn if it is the right choice for you!  Also, please bring some containers to take leftovers home!

AARP Refresher Course

The AARP training course is called “Smart Driver”.  This class is offered for persons 55 and older who have already taken the 8-hour course and now need to take the refresher course in order to keep their auto insurance discount.  To maintain your discount, a refresher course has to be taken once every three years.  The class meets for one 4-hour session.  Participants MUST pre-register by mail!  Class size is limited.

Cost: $19.00 for AARP Members, $24.00 for non-AARP Members

(This class fee includes $4.00 to the Carlton Community Education program)

Mr. Cardinal Painting
Do you love this beautiful, colorful bird or know someone who does?  Come to this class to create a special gift for yourself or for someone else!  This painting will be created on an 8x10 canvas panel with acrylics in many layers using a painting knife and then you will scrape back the paint to reveal the layers underneath all while perfecting your personal masterpiece!

Decorative Wall Pocket
Have you ever seen or heard of a wool wall pocket?  If you have or even if you have not, this class is sure to be a fun, hands on craft event!  In this class you will be crafting a wall pocket out of wood and wool fabric.  This will be a great addition to your home decorating for winter or Christmas.  How about a handmade Christmas gift for someone else?  You can make one or as many as you want!  Please note the greenery does not come with the class.  You are encouraged to bring your own and the instructor will help you arrange it in a very eye-catching way!

Are you running out of room for more winter decorations but love snowmen?  Well do we have a deal for you!  In this class you will take salt and pepper shakers (there will be many different kinds to pick from) and transform them into the sweetest little snow folks you have ever seen!  And even better…there will be vintage jewelry that you can add to your creation for that special touch.  Each snow person will cost $10.00 and you can make as many as you would like, it could even be a great child/adult class.  It is never too late to start making memories with those you love!

The Instant Pot is the hot new kitchen appliance!  Have you found yourself using yours but noticing the large amounts of food you have created and wondering what to do with all of it?  This class will be your food wasting solution (or save you from eating the same meal five days of the week)!  In this class, recipes will be altered and designed to allow the creation of the same delicious food just in a more manageable portion size for one or two people.  If you have taken Jodie’s Instant Pot 101 class, note that this class will include some different recipes from the original class!  Please bring your instant pot and on the slight chance there could be leftovers, some plastic containers to take food home in!

Tired of the same old decorations?  Come and make some unique, painted Christmas trees out of old textile spools!  You will stuff each tree, then paint, wax and distress.  Your final touches will be adding rusty wire and bells to your one of a kind creation.  This project is super easy, super fun and super FuNkY.  Different sizes will be available and you can make as many as you want!  Each tree is between $8-$10 to make and the best part is that you can leave them out all year long as they are a multipurpose decoration!

What Christmas décor is complete without a gingerbread guy?  Georgie is 12 inches high and you will stuff him and his favorite accessory then paint, wax and distress him.  This a is a great project to do with your child or grandchild!  Not only will you be making an adorable gingerbread guy, but also memories to last a lifetime!  Georgie is $15 for you and $10 for the child you bring (a child is not required to attend class, you can do it on your own).
